Douglas Fir ShipLap Cladding refers to the use of Douglas Fir timber as an exterior covering or finishing material for buildings. Douglas Fir ShipLap Cladding is a popular choice for cladding due to its natural beauty, durability, and structural strength.

Douglas fir is very well suited for cladding as it is very strong and versatile it will not mark and dent easily compared to other softwood species. It has a high resin content so will be able to withstand many years of harsh weather. When freshly cut it bears a pink colour that changes to a Reddish brown and as is the case with almost all timber it will slowly change to a silver grey colour when exposed to the weather.

Douglas fir cladding is not easy to treat due to the density and high resin content; however, we believe it looks best left to age to a silver grey colour giving it a traditional timeless look. There are however oils on the market that are suitable to treat the timber to help preserve the beautiful natural colours.

  1. High-quality Douglas Fir timber with attractive grain and colour

  2. 20mm thickness for strength, rigidity and long service life

  3. Traditional Yorkshire boarding / overlapping profile

  4. Excellent resistance to weather when correctly detailed and installed

  5. Suitable for horizontal or vertical installation

  6. Naturally durable softwood with good structural performance

  7. Can be left untreated to weather naturally or finished with oils or stains

  8. Lead 5-7 working days
