Description

Douglas Fir Timber Cladding Boards Vertical Shadow Gap is a popular choice for exterior applications due to its natural beauty, durability, and versatility. It refers to the use of Douglas fir wood as a cladding material for buildings, typically for the purpose of providing an attractive and protective exterior surface.

Douglas fir is very well suited for cladding as it is very strong and versatile it will not mark and dent easily compared to other softwood species. It has a high resin content so will be able to withstand many years of harsh weather. When freshly cut it bears a pink colour that changes to a Reddish brown and as is the case with almost all timber it will slowly change to a silver grey colour when exposed to the weather.

Douglas fir timber cladding is not easy to treat due to the density and high resin content; however, we believe it looks best left to age to a silver grey colour giving it a traditional timeless look. There are however oils on the market that are suitable to treat the timber to help preserve the beautiful natural colours.
